Medicare Part A

  • Helps to cover inpatient care in hospitals
  • Helps to cover skilled nursing facility, hospice and home health care
  • Provides partial coverage of approved Medicare costs

 

Medicare part b

  • Helps to cover doctor's services, hospital outpatient care and home health care
  • Helps to cover preventative care
  • Helps to cover durable medical equipment
  • Provides partial coverage of approved Medicare costs

 

medicare advantage (also known as medicare part c)

  • Health plan run by a private Medicare approved insurance company
  • Includes Medicare Part A and Part B
  • Typically includes prescription drug coverage (Part D)
  • May include vision, hearing, and other services
  • Limits annual out-of-pocket costs

 

prescription drug plans (also known as medicare part d)

  • Prescription drug option run by a private Medicare approved insurance company
  • Helps to cover the cost of prescription drugs
  • Requires enrollment in Medicare Part A and Part B

 

medicare supplement insurance (also known as medigap)

  • Supplement insurance option run by a private Medicare approved insurance company
  • Helps pay for costs not covered by Original Medicare, i.e. deductibles, copays and co-insurance
  • No network requirement and the freedom to choose any healthcare provider across the country that accepts Medicare
  • Requires enrollment in Medicare Part A and Part B
